Christmas Tree Festival 2015

On Monday 7th a few of us got together to sort out the tree decorations we have, and make some more.

Otley in Bloom decorated a tree in the Parish Church as part of the Christmas Tree Festival.  And then the festival began on Wed 9th Dec and continues until Sat 12th Dec.  For more information see the festival’s website.

Please come and see our tree and the 39 others that will be there – there will be musical performances and a cafe throughout.

Walking festival 3rd July

Explore the highlights of Otley in Bloom on a guided walk led by David Bellerby, as part of Otley Walking Festival.  Hopefully it will be a lovely sunny evening for a stroll around the town, starting at 7pm from the Jubilee Clock in the Market Place and lasting a couple of hours.

Otley in Bloom’s Christmas tree

Otley in Bloom’s Christmas tree was on display in the Parish Church, along with 39 others, as part of this year’s Christmas Tree Festival.  We decided on a Gold theme this year to celebrate our winning the Gold Award at this year’s Yorkshire in Bloom competition, and included butterflies, flowers and bicycle wheels to remind ourselves of what we’ve been doing this year.

Christmas tree festival

On Tuesday 10 December a group of Otley in Bloom members gathered at Otley Parish Church to decorate a Christmas Tree for the Church Christmas Tree Festival.
We placed a decorated watering can as a receptacle for collecting coins from the public.  The theme for this year’s event is The Tour de France and the decorations included yellow bicycle wheels made from curtain rings and some fabulous mini yellow jerseys made by Margaret.  Charlotte, Sue, Margaret and Carole decorated the tree and were watched by David and Maria taking pictures.

Otley in Bloom walk as part of the Otley Walking Festival

Tonight as part of Otley Walking Festival, our Yorkshire in Bloom Coordinator led the Otley in Bloom walk ‘In the Judges Footsteps’, ably assisted by other members of the team. There were 12 non Otley in Bloom participants who were also joined by Doris the dog. The walk took about 2hrs and was a great success with excellent weather, a beautiful sunset and everyone said they enjoyed it. We also had two people expressed an interest in helping Otley in Bloom so fingers crossed.
