On June 9th and again on June 11th Otley in Bloom volunteers were busy putting summer flowers in the large wooden planters around the town centre. These planters are regularly maintained and watered by OIB. One of our members was also up early with the birds going round the town doing the watering whatever planting he could.
Otley gateways tidy-up
Members of the team have been out and about over the last week or so working on the town’s gateways. The grass surrounding the Pool Road Gateway was cut the planting was tidied up and given a good watering. Likewise the Leeds Road Gateway was also tidied, planted up and watered.

Town centre weeding and planting
Some more weeding today completing the cycle around town covering: Bondgate, Crossgate and Westgate. We have also cut down the daffodils in the Kirkgate tubs and Memorial Garden Planters. The planters outside the old One Stop shop were also planted up and watered.
Instaplanta planters’ refresh for the summer
Our hard working team have been busy planting up the large wooden planters in town supplied and managed by Instaplanta. In total they planted 20 trays of geraniums, 6 trays of petunia and 6 trays of marigolds. They have then been monitored and watered over the following days.

Otley bus station plaque
Last year we arranged along with support from Otley Lions to have new planters put up in the bus station. The planters will be planted up twice a year for spring and summer to bring a little colour to one of our key entry points for visitors to Otley. We ordered a plaque earlier in the year to inform visitors and locals alike of who was responsible and we finally got it up in a prominent place this week.
